Grant Evan Knutson, of Minion Productions, has brought the much enjoyed Fringe Factor game show back to Rogue for three rounds and a lightning round of fun-filled antics. The Sunday matinee I saw brought local performers Kyle Elder (Magic Of Elder), Joshua Ryan Taylor (Thanks For Coming) and Eileen Imperatrice (representing Tony Imperatrice of I’m a Musician: Would You Like Fries With That?) competing against visiting performers Martin Dockery (Moonlight After Midnight and Delirium), Anna Sell (Sh*t Show…), and both performers from Figmentally, Drea Lusion and Eric Parthum. It was a wild ride of competition, showcasing the comedy and off-stage personalities of these Rogue performers on the Mia Cuppa stage.

The three rounds were made up of an Infomercial competition where the Locals had to sell an atom and the Visitors had to sell an “outestine;” the Visitors sold! Next was a rousing game of Pictionary in which the opposing teams played defense, blocking and distracting the guessing team from seeing the image being illustrated; the Visitors dominated. Third was a revival of last year’s audience-participation game, Mannequin. One contestant from each team is the mannequin, and the other participants have to coerce audience members into giving up articles of clothing or accessories to place on the mannequin (I donated my jacket); the team with the most items wins. The Locals hit 40 items and took the round. The Lightning round was fast trivia at which the Visitors triumphed, taking the win.

Mr. Knutson’s hosting abilities are fantastic, always keeping the hilarity and commentary flowing, and keeping the momentum going. A gentleman named Strangely, a Rogue favorite, provided in-between round entertainment with some accordion playing, guitar, backwards singing of Happy Birthday, and playing a mash-up of songs whilst the Mannequin competition was taking place. In all, it was a fabulous outing for Fringe Factor where audiences thoroughly enjoyed seeing Rogue performers in their competitive element.
