Kathy George Indie Artist Residency
General information
Minion Productions is proud to offer this informal residency for independent touring artists. The Kathy George Indie Artist Residency is named after Grant Knutson's amazing grandmother, who lived in this cabin, that is, when she was not galavanting around the globe. After her death in 2015, Grant Knutson became one of the custodians of the cabin and thought it would be a great place for artists to utilize from time to time.
Basically, the place is a small A-frame cabin just outside Mount Rainier National Park. The residency is completely self-organised and suitable for the development of self-directed projects. Though the cabin is (currently) offered free of charge to any artist awarded a residency, artists will have to fund themselves (i.e. supplies, food, transportation, etc.). The isolated living/workspace space is ideal for intensive focus on a project for short term stays of a long weekend up to a full week.
Visited by all sorts of wildlife and very close to the Mount Rainier National Park where there are stunning walks to be had.
No courses, exhibiting or performances on site allowed at this time. Bring your own food and necessary materials. The residency is meant for development and exploration of works-in-progress by independent touring/fringe artists: solo performers, magicians, playwrights, duos, clowns, burlesque performers and composers are encouraged to apply.
Residency program since 2016.
